Our Hostel Life

Our hostel was situated in salem junction, one of the main attractions in salem. We always were proud to be associated with our junction hostel and everyone will agree with me on this.Daily, we used to commute to our college in our college jeep in our early days.It as a joy trip to people who took it that way and it was a terible thing for people who took it other way.Due to lack of space we used to do foootboard travel and we enjoyed it to the core. We had 3 drivers selvam, mubarak and one more guy whose name i dont remember.Selvam was the fast and the furious, who used to do rash driving and we during that time (youth ille) used to enjoy it.He used to zip in while overtaking and drive at high speeds on the salem flyover.

We guys hanging in the back would smile and wave and feel that everyone watching us would think us as heros.Mubarak was a slow one and he could drive fast but he was more good with his mouth than his driving. He was close to our guru. The third guy i dont remember how he was.Since most of the time (twice a day or 4 times a day) we used to meet these guys.Since they also were just in the same frequency as us we got along with them very well. They used to come in the morning to pick us up and then to drop us in the evening.Once again in the nite to bring our dinner.

There were 2 characters that we would never ever forget in our hostel life. One is our great ED professor and the other our princi. Both will be remembered for their own actions and the way we behaved with them.As all of us know our ED was our time pass during hostel days.We never felt that we didnt have TV or other modes of entertainment in our hostel premises. We knew very well that whenever our ED comes to hostel,it would be total enjoyment and everyone in the hostel would come to see him.The pets were yuvaraj, bhaskar, joe, kumar and of course our favourite thala.Who could forget those days when he used to say his famous dialog "YO enna ya panreeeee?",Yo harisheee enna ya pannitu irunthey???Athu etho anth mukkule ninnu neyum anthey vimalumpannitu irunthingaley.Enna yaaaa??Yo yuvaruu evalo ya innikiiiiii???.Really missing all that even today. We first were silent but later we found out the real joy in being in his company and his english was the best.It was the highlight of his talk.Still (iam laughing writing this.) i remember bhaskar cracking a joke on how he would put marks in the ED tests that he counducts.Miss priya would go to him and say sir enna sir mark kammiya potutinga, then he would say appidiya ma..Onnum seri illeyeeeeeeee,.............I know the rest all the guys in our gang would know...

The next person whom we fear is our princi. He was a man of power,he never abused us or beat us. He would make us feel for what we had done wrong.I liked his character and most of us respected him for that. There were days when we used to stay in the hostel bunking college saying fever and stomach ache. Our princi would come to the hostel, call each and everyone of us and he would make sure that we are really well and then only leave us to stay back.Once it happened such that we were four guys, myself, thala, golti & yuvaraj bunked college and stayed back,as usual our princi came and he called each of us and we know how hard it was acting at that time but thala and myself managed to act and got leave as an oscar for the same. The rest
of the guys who failed to convince, were told that if they were not well, then they will be taken to doctor and then dropped in college. As soon as the princi's jeep left our hostel premises we would escape to palaniappa or one more theatre nearby to enjoy our hosliday.

Many such incidents that really stand out and will be in memory forever.Cant forget those guys....I think i have missed many things.I want u to point them out and make this blog more interesting.

catch you guys then!!!

enjoyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

love

Thala's Entry into our Life @ Thangavelu.

Many wud not be aware or wud not have noted his presence in "Thangavelu Engg College",Salem but i surely was.I had to join Thangavelu Engg college as a result of the marks which i got in +2.First of all i had no experience of living in hostel till that date and i felt homesick as soon as i was put in hostel.I joined the college some 1 month late and the one hostel that they had ,Junction Hostel (gets its name since it was near by to salem railway junction) was full. I had to do the excersise of searching out rooms in the hostel and if i didnt get any, had to stay in the dormitory, near college.

The hostel was a big hotel kind of setup, with rooms in first and ground floors. They had also partitions in the ground floor to make way for some more rooms.Since all the rooms were full.I and my roommate, Mr.Ponnu Mama occupied a room which they had partitioned downstairs.

Incidentally it was booked by none other than the great THALA himself.I was not aware of that.My dad who had come to leave me, put my things in the room and we were cleaning the room. Then came THALA, the hero of our story with his impressive style made his entry. We had a heated argument that it was already booked and so it belonged to THALA.

THALA had the great Kokki Kumare and Madip Senthil defending his arguments.I definetly have to say bout Kokki Kumar here.Kumar one of the most brilliant of the guys in Thangavelu. He is a Chennai guy, quick witted and a very very cool headed guy (As u all know).Since Madip Senthil and Kumar were from chennai, they shared the same room in the hostel.Thalai due to his impressive personality and same domain (The Talkative domain) that they shared, had made first hand friendship with Kokki and Madip.

At that moment we had to compromise that we will leave when we get another room.So it was agreed upon that.THALA was generous(as he is always) to give that room that day to both of us.Still i remember the first day we fought for that room.I was a very closed person(which still iam) who didnt speak much could not defend to the different arguments that THALA put together that day.I hated him that very day.

They days that followed were worse we had many arguments over the room. The final significant one, i remember is that when we were leaving to hostel from the collge in JEEP.Since we were at locking horns in the rooms issue, we were not in good terms.Kumar was the representative of hostel and very close to THALA (which still he is), he and THALA came to me and talked bout the room. They said that i can have the room and THALA would adjust in kumar's room.He
asked why to fite and made us friends.I still remember that day when i shook hands with THALA.

It took some days for things to come to normal between THALA and myself. Then we became very close in the days to come and i became one of his best( i hope he agrees with this) friends.

Its sill fresh in my memories!!!!

Leader is made, he's not born!

What is a leader? A leader is a person who rules or guides or inspires others. Everyone has some expertise in something whereby he may guide and inspire. Some may be inspired by another and throw themselves into learning the art of leading. Yes, there are born leaders, but there are also "developed" leaders who are no less effective. To say leaders are born, not made, may be a thought too confining.

Our thala is a leader in the making.I have seen him groom into his current status very very naturally. He was not a leader by birth but sure by his proactive thinking and actions and the way he handles situations has made him a true leader.A true leader to be with.

Hats off thala!!!!!!!!!!!!
